Creating Welsh language social media content which engages audiences and encourages them to like content and ultimately visit different parts of Wales.


Croeso Cymru is the Welsh language counterpart of Visit Wales and we were responsible for researching and curating native Welsh language content that was creative, compelling and culturally relevant for Twitter and Instagram to engage Welsh speaking audiences.


We also worked to create bilingual Visit Wales content through regular posts on Visit Wales’ Facebook page to an audience of almost 1 million people across the world. This was the first time for Welsh language content to be used on the English language site.

How we did it?

Over the course of a year and a half our bilingual team created regular and original Welsh language social media content across Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

To produce the content, monthly content schedules were produced and this was as a result of extensive research into culturally relevant events and images to inform content and maximise engagement with Croeso Cymru’s target audience. Working to a tried and tested amends and approval process with the client, we made sure that the accounts were kept fresh and active throughout, even on Christmas Day.

We also kept the account live, by liking and retweeting relevant Welsh language content, and were also on hand to respond directly in Welsh to messages and comments.

To help engage audiences and increase the reach of our posts we created hashtags that were exclusively and originally Welsh language, which shaped the content we produced.  This included #LlynnoeddLlun and #MynyddoeddMercher as well as #LlunLlun.
