1. Gender pay disparity and why the pandemic may make it wider 

With the suspension of gender pay gap reporting back in March due to the onset of the pandemic, we worked with Capital Law lawyer Alex Christen on an article for Marie Claire investigating if the lockdown's economic fallout could potentially widen pay disparity between the sexes.


2.Sharing the good deeds of people across Wales as we’re #HomeNotAlone

It’s easy to feel a bit low right now. So we’ve been sharing the amazing things that people across Wales have been doing to help others through our ‘Looking out for each other’ campaign for Welsh Government. First up was former Casualty actor Charles Dale, who has been motorcycling prescriptions from his local GP surgery in Llandaff, Cardiff to vulnerable people in the area. Do you know someone who has been doing something pretty amazing to help others at the moment? Comment on the campaign’s social media pages and follow on Facebook and Twitter in English and in Welsh for advice and support on how to look out for each other safely.


3. Daydreaming about going full Celt

We can’t travel at the moment, but we can daydream about where we’ll visit when restrictions are lifted. This week, we encouraged Daily Mirror readers to go ‘full Celt’ from their sofas with our client, Celtic Routes, a Welsh-Irish tourist initiative, that encourages visitors to explore the counties of Pembs, Carms, Ceredigion, Wicklow, Wexford and Waterford.

And we also shared with media a selection of our favourite locations from across the Celtic Routes that have inspired some of our most wonderful authors – from Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse in Laugharne, to Lough Tay in Wicklow, that inspired Irish born Cecelia Ahern, author of worldwide best-selling novel and now film adaption, ‘PS, I Love You’, both of which feature many locations in Wicklow including Blessington Lakes, Lacken, and the Wicklow Mountains. Our literary round-up featured in Thursday’s Tenby Observer and Narbeth & Whitland Observer.


4. The future of consumer buying behaviour

It’s no surprise the world has already started to adapt to a slower pace of life during the coronavirus pandemic. But what does this mean for the future of consumer buying behaviours for the food and drink industry?

We arranged an interview with Alison Lea Wilson, co-founder and owner at Halen Mon, the Anglesey Sea Salt Company and Board member of, our client, the Food and Drink Wales Industry Board, with Speciality Food Magazine to find out. Alison touches on the importance of ‘supporting local’ producers and businesses as we continue in lockdown and eventually emerge into a relaxed isolation period. For the continued success of the food and drink sector in Wales, Alison says it’s vital for businesses to adapt to new consumer trends in order to be profitable and sustainable in the long run.

5. Mindfulness webinar 

This is an uncertain and challenging time for all, and here at Working Word, we wanted to do something to help us all relax. In normal times our team has a monthly massage but as we are all working from home, we are mixing it up and are taking part in a mindfulness webinar. The workshop is around recognising and understanding the signs of stress along with breathing exercises and guided meditations to help us all end the week feeling zen.
