The Week That Was #141… 5 peeks behind the week at Working Word

From spooky social to getting SMART, travel vloggers to coverage on The One Show and the Daily Post, it’s been another busy week at Working Word HQ. Here’s five peeks behind our week.


1. We got Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s ‘Partners in Grime’ on The One Show!

Did you have the pleasure of meeting Mike and Neil this week? Their work bromance struck a chord with The One Show viewers on Tuesday evening, as the pair shared stories of their 41 year career at each other’s sides. The sewage operators grew up on the same street in Carmarthenshire and have been inseparable ever since!

2. Ghostly goings-on with Visit Wales

It’s been a spooky few weeks with Visit Wales as we have been busy putting together a number of pieces of Halloween themed content for their social media channels. First up was a day of filming at the Skirrid Inn in Monmouthsire. Standing for over 900 years this ancient pub served as a court room in a previous life that saw 200 convicts executed by hanging over the stairwell. It was also used by Welsh warrior prince Owain Glyndwr as a rallying point for his men. As a result, tales of hauntings are commonplace and it was the pub’s ghostly goings- on that drew us in search of some paranormal activity. And as if one haunted house wasn’t quite enough for one week, we also headed to Llancaiach Fawr manor in the Rhymney Valley in search of ghouls. A favourite location with ghost hunters, we had a tour of the Tudor era house where we captured lots of images and videos for Visit Wales’ Instagram Stories. Seriously creepy


3.Learning all about the SMART connected home and home design at John Lewis

It’s not just about column inches at Working Word, we also like to offer bespoke events as nifty little ways to reach a target audience. And when our luxury homes client Waterstone Homes wanted to give their clients a little perk and show off their new collections, we turned to John Lewis to provide the fizz and the SMARTs. To celebrate its most recent property developments, Usk Field in Llanishen and Sand Banks in Broad Haven, we created a small soiree with John Lewis at the helm, where guests learned about the SMART connected homes, took VR tours of Waterstone homes,  all while sipping prosecco and tucking into some lovely canapes.


4. Travel vlogger adventures in Swansea Bay

As we enter November, the cold weather is making us think of summer days on the beach. If you have summer FOMO worry no more, travel vlogger Loz’s Leisure showcased the beauty of Swansea Bay in a vlog he created and shared with over 14,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, showing how stunning this part of the world is all year round. We worked with our client Visit Swansea Bay to help organise the trip in which Loz got to visit the beautiful coastal area of Gower. Check out what Loz and his girlfriend Hannah got up to when they visited Swansea Bay – from glamping in yurts overlooking Three Cliffs Bay, bushcraft adventures to beautiful sunsets on the beach.


5. Telling Anglesey teens about the donation that could change their life

Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, six pupils in Anglesey will be given the life-changing opportunity to study at Pearson College UWC, one of seventeen international schools around the world working to make education a force for peace. We worked with our client and Pearson College’s sister organisation, UWC Atlantic College, to create a news release and pitch it to media covering news on the island.  Check out the full story on the Daily Post over here.
