The Week That Was #70... 5 peeks behind the week at Working Word
From raising awareness of diabetes to Woman’s Hour via Ed Sheeran’s writing partner, here are the stories that kept Working Word busy this week…
1. Telling the 4Ts for Diabetes Awareness Week
Do you know what the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes are? You’re in the minority if you said yes. This week we spread Diabetes UK Cymru’s message far and wide, informing the nation about the potentially lethal symptoms are. Lydia Jones, our own Type 1 Diabetic, led the way with live interviews on S4C’s Heno and BBC Radio Cymru. We worked closely with families from across Wales, including the brave Baldwin family, who tragically lost their teenage son to undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes. Our key objective was the 4Ts -Toilet, Thirsty, Tired, Thinner - message was heard loud and clear, securing great coverage for the campaign, including a full page in the Western Mail's health supplement, features in most of Wales’ local papers and hits with key trade titles. 2. Starting the week with Woman’s Hour coverage
BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour is one of the world’s most respected radio shows. They started this week’s broadcasting with an interview we’d co-ordinated with Shazia Ramzan and Kainat Riaz to tell their remarkable story. The two girls were with Malala Yousafzai when she was shot by the Taliban in October 2012 and have spent the past few years experiencing the transformative education offered at UWC Atlantic College in St. Donats. 3. Grammy Award Winning Artist takes time out to talk to our media contacts
Theatr na nÓg’s new country musical play is all about a young carer named Emmie, which is why we they chose Carers Week to release their tickets to their upcoming production in the Taliesin Arts Centre. Already nominated for an award, the play is likely to head in the footsteps of na nÓg’s previous successful UK tour of Tom Jones, the Musical. 4. Bringing Digital to Cardiff with a social media bang
One of the most hotly anticipated tech events in the digital calendar is making its return to Wales refreshed, rebranded and rehomed at Cardiff's Tramshed Tech. We've teamed up with event organisers Innovation Point to shout about Digital. This week saw us officially launch the event website and open registrations with a host of social media activity including cleverly crafted content, targeted Twitter ads, and collaborations with online influencers from the tech scene.

5. Street Food Friday returns to Swansea
We're all about street food here at Working Word HQ (well food in general tbh) so we were especially happy to talk about Swansea's latest foodie event, Street Food Friday, which returned to the city last week to a great turnout. Organised by creative agency, Urban Foundry, the event was full of vegan delights, gluten free goodies and a host of other street food offerings in the firm's Unit Nineteen venue. Getting the word out there ahead of the event, we spoke to Wales Online, South Wales Guardian and Business News Wales with full details of the line-up and what people could look forward to.
