From summer trips to boot camps and ball pits, here’s five peeks behind our week.
1. Making summer last even longer with the Sunday Times
With the weekend set to be bright and sunny, what better way to squeeze the last out of summer than by following in the footsteps of Sunday Times travel journalist, Duncan Craig, with a trip to one of Wales’ top holiday destinations, the Gower Peninsula.
Working with our client Visit Swansea Bay, we arranged a press trip for The Sunday Times to take in the very best sights and attractions of the region. As Britain’s first area of outstanding natural beauty, it’ll come as no surprise that Duncan left a glowing review of Gower, describing it as the ‘perfect spot to wring the last few drops out of summer’… and we couldn’t agree more!

2. Connecting Capitals
With the Seven Tunnel closure meaning rail journeys to London from south Wales are set to take a lot longer than usual, we’ve been working with Cardiff Airport to promote its new London City route. Operated by Flybe, the route will allow passengers departing from Wales’ national airport to land in the heart of the big city just one hour after take-off, saving approximately four hours from their working day!
Time equals money for businesses and we worked out that the Welsh economy could save over a whopping 800 working weeks just by using the new London city air link. The story was picked up across the Welsh business press, and we are looking forward to hearing what passengers of the very first flight leaving Cardiff next Monday have to say.
As well as the media work, our creative straplines have been used on ad boards at stations and strategic locations across the route.
Now all that’s left to do is think about is how you’re going to use all of that extra time…
3. Kicking off a new season with Principality
As the rugby fans among you probably know, the Principality Premiership kicked off this past weekend. This season is bigger and better than ever with two new sides- Merthyr RFC and RGC 1404- expanding the league. To mark the occasion, we made a compilation video for social media showing off just how passionate the Premiership’s fans about their respective clubs – user submissions included everything from Pontypridd tattoos to Gareth Bale holding up a Cross Keys flag! You can watch our video here – look out for supporters of your local team?
And of course the start of the new season means the return of Principality’s weekly Try of the Week competition. If you want to vote for your favourite try from the weekend, head over the Principality Building Society Facebook page and comment who you think should win under the Try of the Week video.
4. Swapping phoning for toning
A recent study by some clever folk at the University of Cambridge found that office work can be more damaging to health than smoking – yikes! Our client, the Welsh Contact Centre Forum was straight on the case, teaming up with Cardiff-based Operation Fitness to launch an innovative call centre boot camp. The 12 week fitness challenge has been designed to get staff away from their desks to become fitter, healthier, happier, and more productive – meaning everyone’s a winner! We helped share the news by speaking with local media, trade press, and bagged a spot for the story on ITV Wales News.
5. Getting the ball (pit) rolling for Cortecs
Would you rather hold team meetings in a boardroom or play in a ball-pit? Yes, the answer for most is pretty obvious but, what if we told you – you can do both at once!?
Cortecs Cerebrol launched this week to provide training courses and meeting spaces with a difference. The company has a focus on helping professionals achieve their business goals through ‘serious fun’ and offers exciting and diverse courses that involve everything from interactive virtual reality challenges to brainstorms in a ball pit.
We were on hand to help spread the word to businesses in Wales, scooping online and print coverage in some key local titles – and of course, trying out the ball pit ourselves! #perksofthejob
In other news…
Happy 10th Birthday Capital Law!
On Thursday night we donned our best frocks and raised our glasses to celebrate with Capital Law as they marked their tenth birthday at Yr Hen Llyfrgell in Cardiff. Whoever said lawyers don’t know how to let their hair down have clearly never met this bunch of legal eagles. Not only did our other clients Knife + Fork Food cater canapes par excellence, but some of the highlights of our media coverage for Capital was displayed on the walls around the room. Here’s to the next ten years guys!
Good luck to all those running the Cardiff 10K on Sunday! While some of our team will be working with the TV cameras, keep an eye out for our very own (slightly sweaty) Working Word runners, who will also be there doing their bit for Kidney Wales.
